Just thought I’d share a few pictures of my hood these days. I stumbled across another LW’er blog — Lake Worth every minute — and it’s a great showcase of the local faces and places, and it inspired me to post some of my pics. 🙂

It’s always easy to point out the bad in a place, yet hard to remember to look at all the good! I know Lake Worth has so much character and community, and I’m glad it’s my first residence as a homeowner. I love biking downtown for a super cold beer at Little Munich, heading over the bridge for a day at the beach or taking a run through the neighborhoods and seeing so many homes with character.

I don’t have much going on, but thought I’d leave you with some random musings. In any event, just something so you don’t have to be greeted with Senor Scott’s face first thing.

1. Summer is knocking.

2. My world-saving friend RC found this awesome blog post written by a high school freshman that totally breaks down the amazing fashion of Rayanne Graff from My So-Called Life. If you don’t know who/what/when Rayanne Graff or MSCL is, you can skip this.

3. It’s not until really far away, but … we’re going to Alaska!! I had to say something because I’m really excited, but that’s all I’ll say for now.

4. I’m stoked about the new Publix that just opened in Lake Worth. I have Boar’s Head subs at my fingertips. Well, a mile and a half-ish from my fingertips. Does anyone else get excited about a grocery store opening?

Happy Sunday! How’d your weekend go??

My dearest 5 blog readers,

You know I’m not a hater at heart, and I don’t like to bring politics into the blogroom. But, I have to do it tonight — I promise it’ll be quick, like pulling the band-aid off the wound. I have to ask: Who voted for Rick Scott for governor?

Seriously. I would like to know, because I know I didn’t. And I haven’t met or heard of anyone that’s said anything close to being a ray of sunshine or even an M&M found on the floor about this man. Being that my family and friends consist of policemen, firemen, teachers and other state employees, Gov. Scott is not on my good side.

Some Scott highlights:

– Visited some of South Florida’s beaches in April, wearing custom cowboy boots.

Yee-haw.

– Closed the door on high-speed rail plans for Florida.

I can’t wait for horse and buggies to make their comeback.

Signed a bill to kick off merit-based pay and new rules on tenure for teachers, plus he’s proposed education cuts that would further reduce per-child spending.

Welcome to FloriDuh!

– Proposed pension reform for state workers, which includes state employees paying as much as 5 percent of their salary to their retirement account.

Ugh.

A few thoughts as I’ve aged another year:

–Bacon is freakin’ good. Sorry, Bacon, I’m not sure why I ignored you for so many years/decades.

–I may not ever grow green thumbs.

–Still trying my best to not use LOL.

Seafood is still on my no-eat list.

–It’s official; I’m a cat lady. But I still want a dog someday.

–I love surfing the net for food porn.

–I still haven’t jumped out of that plane …. soon, hopefully soon!

All in all, this aging thing isn’t so bad. I’m happy, I’m employed and I’m not in foreclosure, so I can’t really complain. Sure, I’d like to not spot white hairs on my head, wear stomach-showing shirts and zebra-striped pants like I did in college (seriously, I loved those pants!) and make more money, but when the end of the day comes — all in all I’m a happy girl. Lady. Woman. Whatever.
