(Sorry for the short posts lately! Trying to just update you all whenever we come across some internet.)

Upon leaving the Grand Canyon, we eventually landed on I-40 East. We realized we would be cruising right past another national park – Petrified Forest National Park (Arizona). Park #5, baby! Petrified National Park has a 28-mile stretch of road running through it, and what a great mini stop. The park is filled with amazing pieces of petrified wood, and it’s home to fossils and archeological sites.

What’s more, the Petrifed Forest National Park area includes some incredible views of the Painted Desert. The Painted Desert was an incredible surprise. We’re driving through pretty flat, dry land, and then suddenly the landscape fills with hills of various reds – it’s really beautiful!
