(December 13)

If this cruise was an exercise in “How to be decisive,” well, surely none of us would have made an A. Haha! In Wellington, we made our way to the visitor center to get some direction for the day. Finally, we decided to start at Wellington’s famous museum, Te Papa Tongarewa. Not only was Te Papa a great museum, but it was free! The exhibits ranged from Maori culture (of course!), the history of NZ, whaling, photography, natural history…it had everything. It would be quite easy to spend an entire day there.

After getting our fill at Te Papa, we made our way through the CBD (downtown) and over to Wellington’s Botanic Garden. Australia and New Zealand seem to love their Botanic Gardens, but the one in Wellington has probably been one of the best so far! There are several entrances to the Garden, and we decided to head straight to the top by taking the Cable Car. As for the Garden itself, what an amazing place. Crazy flora and fauna, beautiful flowers, a rose garden (although, not quite as impressive as Portland’s Rose Garden!), huge trees…it was really awesome!

On another note, two thumbs up to NZ for having some of the best public toilets! Haha!
