I’m a blogger. You’re a blogger. We’re all bloggers. Or, at least, a blog reader. It’s not always fun or easy to keep writing and posting things that you only hope people want to read or see. It’s time-consuming, but can also be thearaputic.
In any event, I thought I’d pass along some blogs and websites that you can surf by while trying to look busy at your desk
Yeah, you know what I mean. Get clickin’.
JeremyHanlon.com - foodies rejoice
MontanaPhoto.com - photo lovers smile
Florida Girl in Sydney - shout out to the expat
Renee Claire - she’s trying to save the world, what are you doing?
On Call- Pet Services - animal lovers unite (particularly if you’re in Portland)
Mangopunch - straight from the ATL…for now
I’m really tired right now. But, I couldn’t go to bed without sharing my day. I had the chance to visit Swank Specialty Produce out in Loxahatchee, Florida. Dirt roads, cow patties bigger than my head…I knew I wasn’t in Downtown anymore! Anywho, at Swank, they take a hydronatural – combination of hydroponics and natural, sustainable agriculture – path to growing all sorts of greens & herbs imaginable. Arugula, basil, purple basil, watercress, bibb lettuce, cilantro…everything! It was so awesome to see the colors and specialty greens growing this way! And the smell…freshness! I’ve never wanted a salad so badly
It’s true. We’re addicts. And our drug of choice has us hearing things, feeling lightheaded & thinking we’re somewhere else. And our fix for right now? The Yeah Yeah Yeahs latest album, It’s Blitz. Seriously, Karen O.’s voice can do screaming to sexy without skipping a beat. And, you all know I’m a sucker for strings & synth sounds (well, you do now anyway) – and It’s Blitz has them both. The first single, Zero, makes me want to jump around and get all sweaty while drinking a PBR. Then there’s Hysteric that makes me smile because I get goose bumps everytime she sings “Flow sweetly hang heavy…you suddenly completely me.” We have the deluxe version, so there are a few extra acoustic versions – and they rock. Who am I to say what’s good music and what’s not, but I’m going to give it a go here – this is good stuff, buy this album!
And, to the few Aussies stopping by here, I’m sorry you’ll have to wait a bit longer for this album to be released (Worldwide April 6th).
When you can’t find cookies, all you want to do is get your hands on some cookies, right!?
A friend of mine was recently laid off, and I stumbled on trying to find the right words of consolation. “It’s ok. Basic cable doesn’t suck that much.” “You like to cook, right? Do you know how many dishes you can make with Ramen noodles?!“ “Change is a good thing, particularly if it includes dollar bills.“ I mean, really, there’s nothing I could tell her that she hasn’t heard before. Although I may not have been able to find the right words to make her feel any better, at least I hope I said something to make her smile for a second.
In any event, losing a job/not being able to find a job is sucky. And for those in that situation, I thought I’d provide some humorous if not anything else websites & news stories to check out:
Unemploymentality - sent to me by my friend RB. I wish I had thought to turn my unemployment into a sarcastic, funny blog.
Top 10 holiday tips for the unemployed - because when you have no income, travelling seems the best thing to do. Duh.
Unemployment Haiku Weekly - these haikus definitely aren’t about sunsets and butterflies.
Stuff Unemployed People Like – I like things with lists, sorry.
